We are really pleased to announce that we're taking part in Shitbox Rally Spring 2024! This year, all the teams are driving their shitboxes from Bendigo to Townsville.
Meet Asterix and Obelix, the dynamic duo from the charming regions of Sardinia and Puglia respectively, gearing up for the wild ride of the "Shitbox Rally." Why? Well, they're not just in it for the thrills; there's a whole lot of heart behind the wheel.
Asterix, aka Giordano Vacca, is no stranger to life's curveballs. He's battled childhood cancer and come out on the other side with a spirit as unbreakable as his little heroes who face cancer head-on every day. For Asterix, this race isn't just about crossing the finish line; it's a shout-out to the pint-sized warriors who show us what real bravery is.
Then we have Obelix, the one and only Ottavio Bonaccorsi. His motivation runs deep – his mom fought a tough battle against cancer and, sadly, couldn't conquer it. But Obelix is turning his grief into a force for good. He's racing not just to remember his mom but to keep her legacy alive. She was a real-life hero, always helping out the less fortunate in Puglia. Now, Obelix is hitting the road to carry on her mission of spreading kindness and love.
So, why the Shitbox Rally? Because these two aren't just chasing adrenaline; they're on a mission to make a real difference. They're steering through the twists and turns of life, carrying the dreams of little heroes, the memories of those who fought hard, and the legacy of a compassionate mom.

Shitbox Rally is the adventure of a lifetime challenging participants and their cars, worth no more than $1,500, on a 7 day drive across Australia to raise money for cancer research.
The rally is not a race – it’s a fun, colourful, unpredictable adventure with participants travelling at their own pace in smaller groups. Vehicles often break down but “we never leave anyone behind” and each night is spent camping beneath the stars and celebrating the day’s achievements. It all adds up to an incredible opportunity to see Australia’s vast and beautiful countryside and make lifelong friends, many brought together after experiencing cancer themselves or seeing cancer impact family and friends.
Since it’s inception the rally has been the largest fundraiser for the Cancer Council nationally.
Shitbox Rally is a dedicated fundraising event for cancer research with funds going to Cancer Council.
Cancer Council is one of the largest non-government funders of cancer research in Australia. We conduct and fund research studies across all cancers and all stages of the cancer journey.
